Getting There

Getting to Wee Jasper is a lot easier than it used to be. Wee Jasper was a stopover in the early days from Kiandra goldfields to Yass and Sydney - a treacherous journey over steep hills on narrow tracks.

Now you can travel on sealed road, and just a little bit of dirt! Wee Jasper is about an hour from Yass, Tumut and Canberra, and is easily accessed from the Hume Highway, outer Canberra and the Snowy Mountains Highway (Tourist Drive 7). We are 336 km south-west of Sydney, 54 km south-west of Yass and 102 km north-west of Canberra GPO

The roads from Yass and Canberra are suitable for all vehicles. If you are travelling from Tumut please check road conditions and be mindful that from Tumut roads are about 50% unsealed and can be narrow - they are also frequented by large logging trucks.

All Reserves (except Carey's) are South of Wee Jasper village, so turn left at the T intersection in the village (Yass Road) until you get to the next T intersection (Nottingham/Tumut/Yass Road) - then follow the signs to the various Reserves. To get to Carey's Reserve take a right turn at the T intersection in the village and follow the road for about 3 kms - the Reserve is on your right.

For the adventurous you can also get to Wee Jasper via Brindabella Road, it is mostly only suitable for 4x4 vehicles or off road motorcyles.

The Ranger is in residence at Billy Grace Reserve (Nottingham Road) and can be contacted to provide further directions if required.
