Handy Tips

Staying at Wee Jasper Reserves means a lot of things, it means you can relax, you can have a great time and you can be close to nature.

At Wee Jasper Reserves we try to limit the impact we have both on the natural environment as well as the stock, such as sheep, cattle and horses, that live in the area. Please limit the packaging you bring with your supplies. Food will last longer in reusable, sealable containers than it will in its shop packaging or plastic wrap and you will help reduce the amount of rubbish that has to be dealt with.

Please see Conditions of Use of the Reserves.

Please respect fire conditions see Fees and Facilities for most recent updates.

The native wildlife around the Reserves are very active. Please don't be tempted to leave food out for animals or birds, our food can unintentionally harm them and it can also encourage vermin such as rats and mice... or worse!

Please take your rubbish away with you if you can - the Wee Jasper Transfer Station is open for general rubbish on most Sunday afternoons (except long weekends - then it's Monday). Check with the Reserves Ranger for details. Some rubbish facilities are available at Billy Grace Reserve.

Boil your drinking water or BYO.

There is no petrol or diesel for sale in Wee Jasper.

Be careful on the roads, not only the native wildlife but also the local stock can sometimes wander on to the road - not to mention the odd bushwalker - so drive safely and drive slowly. Snails pace is best in the Reserves - watch out for kids, pets, stock, cyclists.

Reserve roads are public roads. Please obey speed limit signs. Motorbikes must be road registered and riders licenced. For your own safety riding in the back of trailers/utes is strictly forbidden.

Horses are welcome on the Reserves but only during the 'off season' and not in the main camping areas. Please check a few weeks in advance so you are not disappointed. You must provide your own portable yards. Bookings must be made and permission is at the discretion of the Ranger. There are limited riding trails in the area, mostly confined to State Forests.

Don't wash in the rivers or streams with any sort of soap - soap can harm the ecosystem - the fish, the birds, the water and the animals that drink it (including us).

You need a recreational fishing licence from the NSW Department of Fisheries to fish in the waters of Wee Jasper Valley - we sell the three day ones for $6.
